Sunscreens that list an ingredient the EU prohibits

Each record below lists at least one ingredient that European Union cosmetics law prohibits in cosmetic products. The records are U.S. formulations sold under U.S. rules. Each row names the ingredient, and its page quotes what the regulation says.

What this list holds

This list holds the prohibitions we have read from the EU ingredient database, matched against the ingredient lists currently stored here. Two names are left out: vinyl acetate and styrene. The EU prohibits them as free substances, and in our records they appear only as parts of a copolymer that the FDA registration lists by its building blocks.

An EU prohibition describes law in one market. It is not a rating of these products, and it does not predict whether your skin will react.
